As an Optical Space Surveillance Research Associate, you will work as a multidisciplinary team automating the detection of satellites in Low Earth Orbit using optical space domain awareness sensors. Within your time at UNSW Canberra you can expect to develop hardware and software for the automation and dynamic operation of a remote space domain awareness telescope, collect and calibrate high quality photometric light curves for resident space objects Rowe-Ackerman-Schmidt Astrograph optical space domain awareness telescope and including maintaining the telescope and instrumentation systems.

About the Role:
Role: Research Associate (Optical Space Surveillance)
Salary: $ 78,109 - $ 104,143 plus 17% Superannuation
Term: Fixed Term, until March 2023

About the Successful Applicants

To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a PhD Engineering, Physics (or relevant).
Be able to demonstrate you knowledge of optical imaging: optical telescopes, image processing, real-time control and space situational awareness
Champion your skills to work in a multidisciplinary research team being able to work independently and as a member of the wider team.
