Office of the President of the Academic Board

The Academic Board is the principal academic advisory body to Senate and is established under the University of Queensland Act 1998. The Board advises Senate and the Vice-Chancellor on all matters relating to and affecting the University's teaching, research and educational programs.

The President and Deputy President are elected from the members of the Board. The President Act acts as the Executive Officer of the Board, and chairs the Academic Board and most Board Committees. The President remains informed on the workings of the academic staff and other related sections of the University.

About This Opportunity

Our Executive Support Officer forms part of the team in the Office of the President of the Academic Board and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. Primarily, the successful candidate will provide high level executive assistance and administrative support to the President and Deputy President of the Academic Board, however, our Executive Support Officer also provides broad administrative support from time to time to various other key areas, including the Chancellery Offices and Administrative Services Division. This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have demonstrable high level administrative skills, including delivery of seamless executive assistance, and secretarial support for committees of working parties. Sound knowledge of the higher education sector is key, including structures, policies, procedures, and corporate systems. You will be highly skilled utilising various software packages, managing your workload autonomously, balancing conflicting tasks, and comfortable communicating with various interdisciplinary stakeholders at various levels of seniority campus-wide.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW level 6. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $80,784 - $86,768, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
