Principal Education Officer (Teaching Standards and Accreditation)

NSW Education Standards Authority (‘NESA’) was formally established on 1 January 2017 to improve quality teaching and student learning across all schools and school sectors. It is responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools, and accreditation of early childhood teachers.

We are looking for a Principal Education Officer, Teaching Standards and Accreditation to provide leadership to the Teaching Standards and Accreditation directorate regarding teacher accreditation processes and the development and review of policy. This role supports processes for the accreditation of teachers at Proficient Teacher, Highly Accomplished Teacher and Lead Teacher (HALT), liaising with key stakeholders and external authorities and agencies and advises on the implementation of HALT policy across the directorate.

Essential requirements:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications
  • Knowledge of state and national education policies and emerging trends in teacher accreditation
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and supporting teams to deliver effective outcomes
  • Accredited at Proficient Teacher or above (NB Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher Accreditation would be well-regarded)

Q2: Using examples, how do you develop team capability and prioritise and address individual performance consistently across the team.
