Job Description

Job Description Summary

The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.

The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the “go-to” organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.

We are looking for a Project Manager to be the driving force behind our pre-IND research programs.

As a Project Manager, you will manage one or more cross-functional pre-IND research gene therapy programs. You will partner with the Research Director to draft the work plan, ensuring that it is consistent with the proposed scope and objectives of the program. You will set up and maintain the master schedule for the pre-IND program in collaboration with the team members and management, identifying critical path activities, and work with the team to prevent schedule delays. You will lead the team to draft the program budget, in collaboration with the Finance department, and manage the adherence to the approved budget, escalating potential deviations as needed.

The approved work plan is used as the roadmap for managing the activities of the project team. You will drive team accountability by ensuring projects meet defined milestones. You will organize and lead team meetings, creating the agendas, recording meeting minutes and action items. You will communicate critical information to internal and external stakeholders. You lead the development and delivery of mitigation and contingency activities to resolve issues collaboratively with the team. Also, you will collaborate with Alliance Management and participate in Joint Steering Committee meetings between GTP and our external sponsors.

Joining GTP offers scientific professionals the unique opportunity of seeing as well as contributing to research from bench to bedside and discoveries that could one day lead to cures.
