Position Information

Bexley North Public School (enrolment of approximately 480, including 70% from a non-English speaking background) is a dynamic and caring learning community staffed by dedicated, enthusiastic and collaborative teachers, strengthened by it’s strong partnership with its community and active parent body. Literacy, numeracy and student engagement through quality teaching and learning, enrichment programs, wellbeing, creative and performing arts, and sport are focus areas. Evidence-based teaching and learning is characterised by collaborative planning and assessing, curriculum differentiation and the integration of technology to maximise student outcomes. Student wellbeing is characterised by a proven student-centred approach through the implementation of the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework and underpins the schools core values.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria, proven ability to enhance staff capacity through collaborative leadership, using evidence-based practices to ensure differentiated literacy and numeracy programs. Expertise in analysing and interpreting a range of evidence sources and data to lead and evaluate strategic initiatives to embed reflective practice and drive continuous improvement. Ability to implement the school’s shared vision and strategic improvement plan in partnership with the community through visible, approachable and authentic leadership. Demonstrated capacity to enhance a planned, whole-school approach to student wellbeing and engagement to ensure students are known, valued and cared for.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to leadand manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high qualityeducation

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive wholeschool teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with thecapacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the schooland educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performanceof staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectivelyand equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff inimplementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensurequality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions

If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW PublicSchool at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed theNSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply,and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificateor final credential certificate as part of your application.
An unconditional full approval to teach is arequirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSWDepartment of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as youapply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2021.
