Position Information

Berkeley Vale Campus, which is a junior campus and part of the Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, has a student population of 828 with 12.7% being Aboriginal students and embraces the concepts of inclusivity, accessibility and diversity as well as providing high quality education. Our students are fully supported on their journey to becoming self–motivated learners, confident and creative individuals, fully equipped with the personal resources to maximise their potential and achieve future success and well-being. To provide a quality education for every child, we are committed to identifying the unique needs of every student and to planning a response to every students' needs. At Berkeley Vale Campus teachers can and will meet the needs of students through syllabus adjustments, pedagogical practice and success criteria to support every student to demonstrate what they know, understand and can do. Well-being and student learning support have been key drivers for strategic improvement at Berkeley Vale Campus and a number of learning support and behaviour programs have been established and are having a positive impact on well-being and achievement within the school. Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead and evaluate evidence-based, whole school professional learning on effective teaching strategies and future focused pedagogies
  • Actively contribute to the school planning and evaluation process, using data informed practice to drive improvements through the school's Strategic Directions and identified priorities including Aboriginal Education
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with capacity to work effectively as a member of the executive team to implement the strategic focuses of the school
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use data and evidence to inform whole school teaching and learning with a focus on literacy, numeracy and differentiation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver high quality professional learning that results in enhanced teaching practices and improved learning and engagement for students with diverse needs

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
