An opportunity exists for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Social Worker to join the Inner Gippsland Student Support Services (SSS) team. The SSS Social Worker will contribute to the implementation of programs and services with a focus on the learning, development and well being of students, particularly those that are most vulnerable, within an educational context. They work as part of multidisciplinary teams in schools and networks to support students and teachers. The successful applicant will possess a graduate or post-graduate qualification in social work which is acceptable for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and possess a current Australian Drivers' License and Working with Children Check.
Student Support Services Social Worker - Ongoing/Full Time
Location: Inner Gippsland, Leongatha- Working from home component
The successful applicant will have a passion for working with schools and young people to maximise student well-being and engagement. This role will, provide professional advice, consultancy and support to Principals, school communities and school networks through the development and implementation of programs and services with a focus on the learning, development and wellbeing of students, particularly those that are most vulnerable. Identify and deliver programs to address state-wide, regional and area student engagement and wellbeing priorities in collaboration with the SSS team.
The SSS Social Worker will provide a comprehensive Social Work service to schools in the area that includes conducting individual assessments, providing reports and advice, individual, group and family counselling. This can encompass a broad range of areas including: learning issues, cognitive issues, behavioural issues, disabilities, mental health, school and work transitions, self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, anger management, relationships, conflict, sexuality, and drug/alcohol involvement.
Key components of the role also include collaboration with and provision of advice to other student support services team members in respect to complex cases as well as the ability to support teachers in the development of educational programs, particularly in respect to students with additional needs. The successful applicant will be able to provide advice that will influence the development of teaching and learning strategies, prepare policy advice for consideration by the school network leadership team, as well as possess sound written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
The Inner Gippsland SSS team is made up of Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Social Workers Administration Support and a Team Leader. As a member of this team, you will have access to a car to travel to various school locations (subject to availability), a laptop, an IPhone as well as access to an extensive assessment and resource library. The successful applicant will possess a graduate or post-graduate qualification in social work or equivalent which is acceptable for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and possess a current Australian Drivers' License and Working with Children Check.
