Abbey Road Institute works in collaboration and colocation with Studios 301 in Sydney, Australia’s premier music production centre. The Institute offers an Advanced Diploma in Music Industry to aspiring musicians, producers and engineers. There are ARI schools open and operating in London (at the world famous Abbey Road Studios), Melbourne, Paris, Miami, Johannesburg, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Overview and Objectives of the Position

The primary role of the program coordinator is to lead and manage a team in: 

- all teaching and learning functions

- ensuring appropriate student support for effective learning and teaching 

- the coordination and effective administration of the educational program at the Institute 

- maintaining and enhancing the quality of the educational programs

- development of academic learning materials and support for academic staff

- ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements

- supporting the CEO in effective application of all ARI policies and procedures.

- developing course curriculum and initiatives to drive student enrollments

The Program coordinator reports directly to the CEO, has academic oversight of the educational programs offered at the Institute, and ensures that this is being effectively delivered, monitored and reviewed. As part of the Institute’s senior team, the Academic Program Coordinator must ensure that local Abbey Road Institute complies with internal national and international academic course standards, external regulatory frameworks, and that standards ensuring excellence in student experience are effectively monitored and maintained. The Academic Program Coordinator will ensure reliable implementation of approved academic policies and procedures in line with international strategic priorities and organisational objectives and values.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Provide academic leadership. 
  2. Support and implement the international strategic directions of the Institute. 
  3. Ensure effective implementation of the Institute’s systems, policies and procedures. 
  4. Enhance the overall quality of students’ experience. 
  5. Commitment to professional excellence in learning and teaching. 
  6. Maintain and enhance professional development, creative outputs and industry knowledge. 
  7. Ensure high teaching delivery standards (delivery and preparation)
  8. Ensure effective regulatory compliance, and maintain related record systems.
  9. Ensure maintenance of all appropriate and required student record systems
  10. Monitoring student attendance as required (eg with regards to visa compliance). 
  11. Maintain a softcopy scan of all student files on server.
  12. Receive student grievances and liaise with colleagues as appropriate.
  13. Meet with students to discuss any issues and receive suggestions.
  14. Liaise with the Institute CEO to undertake academic staff recruitment and academic staff performance reviews for the Institute.
  15. Ensure effective dissemination and distribution of published materials (hard copy and online) such as program handbooks, module narratives and other approved information and materials for students and staff. 
  16. Be responsible for providing reliable, timely and accurate information and advice for students relating to learning, teaching and assessment matters throughout their course of studies, and to address and resolve course-related queries from staff and current and prospective students. 
  17. Assess the suitability of prospective students and students requesting course retake options, including the conduct of relevant interviews. 
  18. Ensure that the Institute’s assessment and moderation policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
  19. Ensure the preparation and production of reports for the Institute as required. 

Selection Criteria: Desirable Qualifications and Experience 

  1. Proven academic leadership skills.
  2. Demonstrated high level of communication skills both verbal and written. 
  3. Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and meet deadlines. 
  4. Relevant qualification in an appropriate area of expertise.
  5. Appropriate educational qualification (TAE40116 Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or higher).
  6. Teaching experience and relevant industry experience. 
  7. Demonstrable evidence of relevant industry projects and outcomes.
  8. Demonstrable ability to generate and deliver quality teaching and produce relevant learning resources.
  9. Capacity to generate employability opportunities for Institute graduates via direct connections with the music industry.
  10. Willingness to support and mentor Institute graduates seeking job opportunities.
  11. Demonstrated client service orientation.
  12. Ability to work in a team, and foster a harmonious working environment. 
  13. Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities. 
  14. Proficient in the use of standard office software and database systems. 
  15. Good extended knowledge of the Music Production and Audio Engineering industries. 
  16. Ability to advise on the selection, development and use of appropriate educational strategies and technologies.
  17. Familiarity with and understanding of key regulatory frameworks. 
  18. Capacity to contribute to effective recruitment and marketing strategies.

Line of Reporting, Salary, and Commencement Date

This position is part of the senior ARI team in Sydney and will report directly to the CEO, ARI.

Salary will be negotiated with the preferred applicant, and will reflect industry standards and 

sector norms in Technical and Vocational Education in Australia.

The successful applicant will be expected to commence duties as soon as possible but no later than mid-May 2021.
