We require a postdoctoral fellow to work on a
clinical trial. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow
will be working in collaboration with a
successful research team with a proven track
record in high quality research outcomes.
The position will work closely with the
Research Team Leaders, other professionals
and laboratory members. It will include
assisting in the conduct of the research;
preparation, analysis and presenting of
research reports; in collaboration with research
teams and professionals.

This position reports to the to the Clinical Trial
Investigators (A/Prof Beatrix Feigl and Prof
Graham Kerr) for supervision, workload
management and for Performance Planning
and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting the Chief Investigators to
conduct the Clinical Trial

Assisting in the identification and
recruitment of participant into the trial
(includes liaising with patient groups) and
scheduling participant appointments

Performing participant assessment as
required by protocol including motor and
pupil function

Set up and interpretation of
polysomnography (training provided)

Provide instructions to patients for human
sample (saliva) collection, transport and
storage (training to be provided)

Conduct participant home visits for
compliance control and collection of data

Accurate data collection and entry of study
data onto hard copy and electronic case
report forms and assist in data analysis

Provide custodianship for selected
research project facilities and equipment
including procurement, maintenance,
logistics, inspections, documentation, and
health and safety compliance

Compliance with health and safety
policies, procedures, hazard reporting and
safe work practices.

Implementing and administering University
policy within the Faculty with respect to
equitable access to education and
workplace health and safety.

To ensure job flexibility the successful
appointee may be required to:

perform any other duties as nominated by
the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;

participate in job rotation or multiskilling in
consultation with their supervisor;

work across campuses

This appointment will be offered on a fixed-
term, part-time (80%) basis for 12 months.

Selection Criteria

1. A tertiary qualification in Neuroscience or
Motor Control

2. Excellent clinical ability in sensory and
motor assessment in movement
disorders/Parkinson’s Disease including an
ability to learn new (vision science)

3. Attention to detail and ability to adhere to
documentation guidelines

4. Excellent interpersonal skills, including
both written and verbal communication
skills with patients and research team

5. Ability to use online databases, enter data
and other electronic/computer interfaces

6. Clinical research experience
7. Experience with clinical trial assessments

and reporting
8. Experience with simple data entry

procedures and computer database

Remuneration and Benefits

The classification for this position is Academic
Level A (LEVA) which has an annual
remuneration range of $79,954 to $108,490 pa
(full time equivalent). Which is inclusive of an
annual salary range of $68,139 to $92,458 pa
and 17% superannuation (full time equivalent).

In July 2020 QUT staff voted in favour of a
variation to its Enterprise Agreements. The

variations were approved by the Fair Work
Commission in August 2020.

The variation impacts leave loading (for new
staff no loading will be paid or accrued during
the period the variation is in effect), salary
increases (the salary increase which was due
to occur in the first full pay period of December
2020 has been deferred until the first full pay
period of December 2021) and superannuation
(superannuation will be paid to staff as though
the salary increase which would have been
paid in December 2020 has taken effect and,
subject to the rules of the superannuation fund,
a defined benefit member will continue to make
contributions in alignment with the contributions
