Group Class Piano Teacher

Sneaky Keys - Sydney, NSW

Education, Childcare & Training
Source: uWorkin

Sneaky Keys is on a mission and we need a young Keys (piano) teacher who has an understanding of teaching composition and the technologies used within.

Sneaky Keys is a music school that specialises in group music education for kids.

We teach Singing, Keys (Piano), and Creators (Composition) to kids aged 4-12 years old.

The school is located in Northbridge (North Sydney area) and our focus in the next 12 – 18 months is to increase the number of students at this location, as well as scouting and opening further locations.

We’ve been running for 5 years and are developing a strong brand presence.

As a team, we pride ourselves on being very approachable, welcoming and interesting. We like to think outside the box when it comes to music education.

Initially, the role will be between 12-15 hours per week, with the opportunity of a more permanent position for the right person.

The right person will be Sydney based who can travel to our Northbridge location.

The role requires:

  • Strong interest in teaching music to children (group teaching experience preferred)
  • Great capability and understanding of piano performance in contemporary genres (jazz/blues/soul/pop/hip-hop influences very welcome!)
  • Ability and interest in teaching Composition (melody writing, making beats in GarageBand, recording and mixing)
  • Ability to sing solfege (do re mi…) for teaching purposes (for pitch recognition not to teach singing itself)
  • Bonus but not required - ability and confidence in creating backing tracks and arranging piano music scores for cover songs.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A natural with kids
  • Young, warm personality and energetic
  • Willing to learn and grow with the business
  • Driven to teach and able to contribute to future course units
  • Confident in speaking with parents and making them feel welcome
  • Punctual and well prepared to teach (lesson plans ready to go in advance)

This role is a great fit for a Uni student studying music or a sound production-related course, or a recent graduate looking for work in the music education industry.
