Deakin’s School of Medicine works to enhance the communities we serve through outstanding clinical training and research. Working within the Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT), the primary purpose of the Research Assistant is to support the running and continuing development of the Community and Research Network (CARN). The CARN is a network of community members, local organisations, businesses and researchers in the Geelong community.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for implementing the strategic activities of CARN, as directed by the CARN Central Committee, under the supervision of the CARN Co-chair. They will contribute to the efforts to expand and further engage stakeholders for CARN, to improve the network over 2021. Specific tasks will include administration, member survey, literature review and ongoing recruitment and engagement activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Assisting the CARN Central Committee with administrative processes related to CARN, including, preparation of newsletters, network communications, and social media engagement.
Search for, synthesise and present data related to community engagement to inform ongoing network development.
Assist in preparation of CARN engagement activities including regular meetings, workshops and events.
Assist in network expansion, including implementation of diverse recruitment strategies.
Maintaining strict standards of confidentially and conforming to National Health and Medical Research National Statement on Ethic Conduct in Research Involving Humans standards in all activities.
Participate in Quality Assurance procedures related to the project and service.

To be successful, you’ll have:
A qualification in health, science, communications or other relevant field; or an equivalent level of training and/or experience.
Experience in searching, collecting and synthesising and presenting research data.
Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups (e.g., community groups, support networks, service providers).
Demonstrated capacity to engage stakeholders and facilitate networking.
Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a diverse, collaborative team as well as independently where required.
Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, and an ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks.
Exceptional record keeping skills and attention to detail and demonstrated administrative skills.
