Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is a single stream school nestled in the suburb of Hilton. The school caters for students from our Three Year Old Kindy through to Year Six. Our school has strong academic focus and places equal importance on developing the spiritual, physical, social and emotional growth of each child. Through sound teaching pedagogy and the provision of quality resources and refurbished facilities, our dedicated staff assist students to be active participants in their own learning and strive to support each learner reach their full potential.
We are seeking a suitably qualified person for the position of Education Assistant working three days a week in Kindergarten and one day a week in Three Year Old Kindergarten. This will be a temporary, 0.8FTE position, commencing 19 April 2021 and concluding 31 December 2021. The successful applicant will be passionate about education, will live out their faith in their daily lives, be positive and bring their own energy and passion to an already dynamic staff.
It is expected that applicants provide a cover letter addressing the Selection Criteria and a Curriculum Vitae, including the names of three referees. Please also include copies of your qualifications with your application.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • An understanding of and a commitment to the ethos of Catholic education.
  • A committed and enthusiastic approach to working with children, with the ability to develop positive and constructive relationships.
  • An ability to work under the direction of the class teacher/s, together with other support staff, while also demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility.
  • Enthusiasm and cooperation when working as part of a highly capable team, as well as being able to work independently.
  • A high degree of professionalism, as well as highly developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong sense of dignity and respect for self and for others.
  • An understanding of National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework would be advantageous.
  • A familiarity with Microsoft Teams and SEQTA would be desirable.
  • Qualifications Required:
    • Certificate III or IV Teacher Assistant or Education Assistant.
    • Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School - or willingness to attain.
