Industry Development and Extension Officer

The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) was established as a University of Tasmania research institute in partnership with the Tasmanian Government and has ranked as the number one agricultural research institution in Australia (ERA). As a global leader in agriculture and food systems research, TIA delivers impact-focused RD&E along the entire agriculture and food value chain.
The Opportunity
As part of a multi-disciplinary team in TIA's Livestock Production Centre, provide leadership and support for the Centre staff, designing, and conducting industry engagement within current and proposed projects and representing TIA with industry stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver extension and communication activities within the two funded Livestock Productivity Partnership (LPP) Projects.
- Develop TIA partnerships with red meat farmers who are implementing practice changes and collect data to monitor these changes for LPP Project Milestone reporting.
- Conduct development activities within the DairyHIGH 2 project that explore regionally targeted pathways for non-replacement dairy calves (NRDC) to enter the beef market.
- Explore networking opportunities within the Tasmanian red meat industry through engaging with service providers and existing red meat producer groups.
- Contribute to the Dairy and Grazing Centre strategic planning and capacity building.
Your Application
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;
- A bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution in a relevant discipline with at least 2 years subsequent relevant experience.
- Ability to competently undertake the practical activities associated with the design and conduct of, as well as collection and collation of data from industry engagement activities.
- Experience utilising social media and novel communication channels to extend project findings, with associated audio-visual, and graphic design capabilities.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $100,345 comprising base salary within the range of $79,093 to $85,765 plus 17% superannuation.
