About the role:

ACAP is seeking a highly organised Student Placement Adviser who is responsible for preparing and assessing students for placement, developing long term relationships with new and existing placement agencies, assessing each potential placement agency to ascertain the best fit between students on placement and the requirements of the agency and its client populations, and contributing to course requirements with regard to preparation for placement.

The position directly reports to the Campus Student Experience Manager and functionally reports to the National Placement Operations Manager. This position works closely with the National Placements Team, student placement team members on all campuses and Discipline members to ensure potential placements meet course requirements. Strong relationships with the Academic placement and Field Staff, and Chairs of Disciplines are essential to the success of this role.

Placement agencies may include:
Community organisations; Non-government and not-for-profit organisations; Government services and departments e.g. State Health Departments; State Education departments and schools; Private sector organisations; Faith-based services; Social welfare and casework organisations; Human services organisations; Counselling and coaching organisations; and other suitable organisations able to meet placement requirements.

The candidate we seek will ideally have:

Essential:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in higher education and/or student placements
  • Strong connections with industry
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills and capacity to work in a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated excellent client service orientation
  • Intermediate MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills on Windows platforms
  • Ability to work in and foster a harmonious working environment
  • Understanding of WH&S, Anti-Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Access and Equity, Privacy legislation, EEO principles and practices and other relevant legislation

Desirable:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a Placements Team
  • Experience working with students in a higher education institution and student placement management systems
  • Knowledge of Higher Education and Vocational Education regulatory environment
