Position Descriptor:
Amata Anangu School is part of a remote Aboriginal Community on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. The Anangu Lands Curriculum is integrated with the Australian Curriculum.
Keeping Safe: CPC is a focus along with positive relationship and identity building. An understanding of EALD methodologies is important to develop students' literacy and numeracy skills in this setting.
The ability to differentiate and work across a mixed year level class is an advantage. Pitjantjatjara is the language of the community and is a key component of the learning program, along with cultural education.
Current site aspirations are detailed on the school website, including:
1) Establishing mindsets that inspire high expectations & expire learned helplessness;
2) `A?angu First? approach to co-planning, with ?2 way science? as a key initiative;
3) Culture and language first in the timetable, and integrated with curriculum,
4) Active and intentional emphasis on bilingual learning & language acquisition, and
5) Culturally safe & trauma informed practices
Applications demonstrating passion for Reggio Emilia philosophy and/or accreditation in Early Years Framework will be considered favourably, and experience in remote indigenous education is preferred.
The successful applicant is required to work closely with Aboriginal Education Workers to deliver all aspects of the curriculum. Amata Anangu School has a whole school approach to positive behaviour management. The ideal applicant should show a willingness to work collaboratively with other educators and families to provide an inclusive education program.
