Industry Development Officer - Animal Production and Nutrition

  • Full time, fixed-term position for a period of three years.

The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) was established as a University of Tasmania research institute in partnership with the Tasmanian Government and has ranked as the number one agricultural research institution in Australia (ERA). As a global leader in agriculture and food systems research, TIA delivers impact-focused RD&E along the entire agriculture and food value chain.

The Opportunity

Contribute to the development and maintenance of sustainable and viable primary industries, including, leading, managing, and delivering complex projects that use, analyse, or develop market intelligence, value adding technology or practices and contemporary extension methods that are expected to change the way industry operates.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop, lead, manage and report on successful industry development and extension projects, including group activities to deliver effective industry outcomes.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge on current and potential future industry requirements and delivery mechanisms for industry development and extension.
  • Provide leadership and support to R,D and E staff around the disciplines of ruminant animal production and nutrition.
  • Positively communicate with industry using a variety of media to promote the TIA brand and related projects and activities.
Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;
  • Completion of a recognised qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent combination of skills, training and experience).
  • Sound knowledge of principles of Agricultural Science.
  • General knowledge and experience of development and extension technologies
  • A well-developed understanding of pasture agronomy and grazing management.

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $100,345 comprising base salary within the range of $79,093 to $85,765 plus 17% superannuation.
