About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Research Fellow to apply and refine their expertise in research methodologies, design and delivery to contribute to the University's standing as a national leader in the discipline. This position engages in research both independently and as part of a solid and close-knit research team. Within this multidisciplinary team, you will lead the development and application of analytical methods to automate the analysis of biological data to address problems of data integration, uncertainty, bias, dependent variables and samples, and heterogeneous data types. You will use your data science/machine learning expertise to inform decision-making that will optimize best practice livestock production across Australia, enabling improved animal welfare and production.

About you

- a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
- experience with R and/or Python
- ability to handle complex data engineering and transformation
- ability to develop and refine data science/machine learning solutions to resolve problems
- experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
- a demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums
- a developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
- a developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the area of expertise.
