About the role

Join the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) & Industrial Relations (IR) at RMIT University in the School of Management and contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to your field of expertise. You will be involved in L&T (including coordination), engagement and research and be responsible for carrying out teaching activities within existing undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Certificate programs and assist in maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will also be expected to actively promote School programs by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. In addition, you will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation.

About you

You will have a demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and to produce high quality curriculum or program materials. You will have an emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Department and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.

More specifically, you will have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Management or human resource management or industrial relations theory
  • Quantitative or qualitative or mixed methods research
  • Applied research and/or program and policy evaluation, in one or more specific sectors (eg. healthcare, manufacturing)
  • Business analytics or organisational analytics (i.e. in government, community or NFP sectors)
The School is currently developing new curriculum and programs in the related areas of analytics and evaluation and demonstrated expertise in qualitative or quantitative methodology and/or analytics coupled with course design experience in these areas will be highly advantageous.


Mandatory: PhD or equivalent research doctorate in a relevant field

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

To be eligible to apply candidates must have performed casual teaching work at an Australian University within the past three years and must not have been employed on a continuing basis at an Australian University.
