For over 85 years, TAFE Gippsland has been supporting Gippsland communities to thrive by empowering local students and enabling local businesses, through the provision of high quality vocational education throughout eastern Victoria, from Warragul to Lakes Entrance.

Reporting to the Director Educational Delivery, the Head of Department – New Energy and Advanced Manufacturing is responsible for the strategic management of educational programs, quality improvement activities, achievement of government funded and commercial income targets, and curriculum development for areas within their control. The Department areas comprise Electrotechnology, Engineering, Construction and Safety, Automotive and Advanced/Bio Manufacturing

As the Head of Department, you build and maintain relationships with industry and other stakeholders to ensure that TAFE Gippsland remains relevant, responsive and client focused, and ensure that training is aligned with current industry needs and future employment opportunities.

The Head of Department is an outstanding communicator with the proven ability to establish strong links with business and regional and state agencies. You have recent successful leadership experience within an educational environment and a proven ability to motivate, coach, mentor and develop teams and individuals. You have the ability to design, implement and drive strategic initiatives and have a clear vision for the ongoing development of teaching and learning programs. You have a relevant degree and post graduate qualification, along with an approved teaching qualification at diploma level or above. You will have substantial teaching experience including specialist skills and knowledge in developing training programs, and experience managing curriculum development activities.

A six month probationary period applies to this position. Successful applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and will be required to satisfy a National Police Record Check and a Victorian Working with Children Check.
