ECU’s Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) delivers a comprehensive suite of services and programmes that promotes high quality learning and teaching outcomes for students and academic staff. Based predominantly at the Joondalup Campus, CLT plays a key role in designing and implementing future teaching and learning strategies and enhancing the student experience. Within CLT, the Learning Technologies and Innovation team lead the development and support of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), including the oversight of the learning management system (LMS) and related ecosystem. They actively support academics and students to adopt the suite of technologies and promote innovative use of emerging technologies.

ECU is commencing a new phase in the development of its Next Generation Digital Learning Environment: an LMS transition from Blackboard to Canvas. This will be a significant program of work, both in scale and in the impact on the teaching and learning experience. This role will initially form part of the LMS Technical Transition Project team located in ECU’s Digital and Campus Services (DCS). Working collaboratively with existing CLT and DCS staff, this role will provide subject matter expertise to support the implementation of Canvas, in line with ECU’s TEL Standards. The role will then transition back to CLT in March 2022.

The Role
Under the broad direction of the Manager, Learning Technologies & Innovation, this role provides academic staff support, instruction and resourcing for centrally supported teaching and learning technologies. Until February 2022, this role will be seconded to DCS to provide specific subject matter expertise in the use of the Canvas LMS.

Key Criteria
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Educational Technology or a related field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in technical support for learning technologies and applications in a higher education setting
  • Working knowledge and experience with the Canvas LMS
  • Expertise in providing support and guidance to stakeholders in the University on the adoption of learning systems resources and strategies to support sound pedagogy
  • Ability to manage a small team to focus on all aspects of customer service to achieve quality outcomes

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, ongoing position attracts remuneration of $103,263 - $116,306 per annum plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
