The Headmaster is seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator as Faculty Head of English. The successful candidate will be expected to be a leader of teaching and learning, able to inspire their faculty towards achieving a culture of excellence. A willingness to collaborate across faculties as well as working with the Head of Junior School and Head of Middle School is essential. They will have a demonstrated understanding of independent school culture and will seek to contribute to a culture of professionalism, self reflection, improvement and participation in the wider life of the School.

The successful candidate will be thoroughly familiar with the curriculum and current trends at the national and international level regarding the teaching of English K-12. Ideally, they will be an experienced teacher with post graduate qualifications in a suitable field and capable of teaching HSC classes to Extension levels.

Candidates for this role will be required to demonstrate:

• a passion for teaching and a deep knowledge of the syllabus content, particularly Stage 6, including Extension 1 and 2;
• a passion for literature and reading;
• an innovative approach to teaching and learning;
• a comprehensive understanding of classroom differentiation; and,
• a commitment to detailed and timely feedback to students.

The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate innovative use of ICT in teaching and a desire to contribute to the outdoor education and co-curricular programmes of the School.
