The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) (PVC (ILE)) is the site of cross-University leadership in relation to UTS Indigenous education, research, employment, and external engagement initiatives. The Pro Vice-Chancellor is a key member of the University's senior leadership team and makes major contributions to strategic direction.
We are seeking to appoint an Associate Dean into a senior Indigenous teaching and learning leadership role within the Office of the PVC (ILE). The role is a UTS-wide position, with its primary focus being the leadership and ongoing strategic management of the Indigenous Graduate Attribute across the University.
As this is an identified role pursuant to the exemption granted to UTS under s126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), we will only consider Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates for this position.
Detailed Description
About You
You will have a strong understanding of the challenges and professional, industry and community issues and trends in relation to Indigenous higher education. You will also have in-depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary institutional, national and international contexts for learning and teaching, research, and research training in Indigenous knowledge, histories and traditional culture. Importantly, you possess exemplary Indigenous knowledge comprising a deep personal awareness of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing and a strong commitment to progressing Indigenous education and research.
You will also have:
- Experience in, or capacity for, academic leadership at the tertiary level and in supporting senior staff in policy and strategy development and execution
- Experience in the progression of Indigenous strategic objectives within a complex and varying environment
- Strong strategic, organisational and change management skills and ability to work with and lead a range of academic and professional staff in a demanding and changing environment
- Proven ability to operate strategically, build relationships and positive rapport with a range of stakeholders, effectively manage and develop academic staff, operate within set budget parameters and deliver identified key performance outcomes
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum design, and coordinating and evaluating educational programs.
