Full Job Description
Do you enjoy coming up with creative ideas to build a sense of community? Are you passionate about helping tertiary students grow and develop their skills and experience? Do you work with a structured approach to project management?
A rare opportunity exists for a proactive and community-minded individual to join the Student Life team at Swinburne as a Leadership & Volunteering Officer.
In this role, you will be integral to connecting and engaging students in volunteering and leadership opportunities that develop their employability. In particular, you will:

  • Develop creative strategies to recruit and engage students in volunteering on or off campus and remotely
  • Champion a range of projects in the Leadership and Volunteering programs
  • Mentor students in the collaborative design and delivery of initiatives for their peers
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure a range of volunteer and leadership development opportunities are available to students
  • Perform all administrative aspects of the Volunteering program

This role is anticipated to be working from home 2-3 days a week initially and is otherwise based across our Melbourne campuses (Hawthorn, Croydon, and Wantirna).

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have experience in:
  • volunteer management/coordination, including using volunteer management software
  • mentoring people from diverse backgrounds
  • managing projects from idea to evaluation
  • seeing the big picture and translating it to your work and targets
