Salary: Level A $73,669 - $99,964 p.a. or Level B $105,232 - $124,958 p.a. (pro rata for part time) plus 9.5% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualification and experience
About the role
The Lecturer - Medical Education in First Nations Health is a scholar in First Nations health. While establishing their own academic career, the incumbent in this position plays an important role in the further development and implementation of the School’s First Nations Health curriculum within the Doctor of Medicine (MD).
The Lecturer - Medical Education in First Nations Health will work with academic and professional staff in the DME and its associated clinical schools, and other key stakeholders in the area of First Nations health to promote and facilitate the implementation of an effective, coordinated and integrated program of First Nations health in the MD. The incumbent will also draw upon their networks to recommend appropriate resources to support the MD’s delivery. The Lecturer will report to and work closely with the incumbent Director of First Nations Health who occupies a continuing position that extends beyond this task- specific project.

About you
- A health professions degree or PhD (or an equivalent degree) or a commitment to undertake a PhD (or an equivalent degree)
- A background of scholarship in Indigenous health
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds
- An appreciation of health inequities faced by disadvantaged and minority groups in Australian society, particularly Indigenous Australians, and an ability to manage complex relationships in addressing these issues
- An understanding of the dynamics and context of the Aboriginal Community controlled health sector
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and flexibly within a team
