The Opportunity
The School of Biomedical Sciences and Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute is one of the largest and most dynamic biomedical research and teaching environments in Australia. The School and its cognate Departments of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology, comprise over 120 research groups and deliver discipline-focused teaching into our flagship Biomedical Science Degree, the Bachelor of Science Degree, as well as the Medical School and various Health-related Degree Programs.
Currently experiencing steady growth in student numbers, the department is seeking suitably qualified and motivated academics to join our world-class School to make contributions to the teaching in the Centre for Human Anatomy Education within the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology. The commitment to our student’s education is paramount, and by having a strong demonstrator-to-student ratio we can improve both experience and outcomes.
The Assistant Lecturers / Demonstrators will be contributing to the delivery of undergraduate classes (laboratory sessions and tutorials) as part of a team of Anatomy Sessional Educators, under the supervision of a senior member of staff in the Centre for Human Anatomy Education. They will also be required to attend additional training sessions and seminars outside of assigned class times, and contribute to other academic work, such as resource preparation and marking.
This is a unique opportunity to join a passionate team at a leading university in a top-ranked school of Biomedical Sciences. The successful applicant will have a clinical degree that included substantial training in whole-body human anatomy (e.g. Medicine) or a Science degree with Honours, including a major (or equivalent) in human anatomy and capacity to upskill in clinical applications of human anatomy.
