  • Level B $99,346 or Level C $121,133 + 17% Superannuation

Deakin’s School of Psychology is one of the largest and most progressive psychology departments in Australia. We are one of five Schools within the Faculty of Health, and have a strong presence in Melbourne, Geelong and Warrnambool. At undergraduate level, almost a third of our students study online while they live and work in places as distant as Alaska, as remote as the North-West Kimberley, or as nearby as Box Hill.

We are seeking applications from Level B Lecturers or Level C Senior Lecturers with experience teaching undergraduate Psychopathology. The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer will be required to design, prepare and deliver teaching and learning on and off-campus and online. In addition, the appointee is expected to undertake research, publish, and attract research funding whilst promoting the School and maintaining links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrating excellent scholarly learning and teaching across all levels and modes (including for example in the cloud and in clinical settings)
  • Making a significant contribution to the moderation and maintenance of academic standards, and the development of course and unit curriculum that exemplifies Deakin’s curriculum framework
  • Designing and implementing best practice assessment of student learning outcomes, and participating in assessment panels
  • Counselling and mentoring students, including referring students to University services
  • Providing leadership in teaching and learning through roles such as Unit Chair
  • Contributing to the specific areas of research, scholarship or creative activity
  • Supervising or examining honours students, or making a contribution to the supervision, management and timely completion of HDR students

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent) and/or professional doctorate in a relevant field and/or Masters in a relevant field
  • Experience teaching UG Psychopathology including integrative and cultural approaches to psychopathology
  • Experience in the design, preparation and delivery of University teaching and learning in the areas of on and off-campus, lifelong learning and flexible and on-line delivery
  • Ability to develop curricula and resources that reflect an understanding of undergraduate psychology
  • Demonstrated ability in the design and development of premium online learning resources
  • Ability to develop and administer assessment regimes and provide feedback that fosters independent learning
  • Capacity to supervise research students
  • Nationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research grants
  • Teaching Psychopathology at a post-graduate level *desirable
  • Area of Endorsement in Clinical, Counselling, Educational & Developmental, or Clinical Neuropsychology *desirable
  • Psychology Board of Australia approved Supervisor *desirable
  • Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues *desirable
