The Senior Professional Practice Officer role offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their expertise and leadership to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers.

With expert knowledge and practice, strong professional affiliations and a wide network of teachers and educational leaders, the role will ensure VIT is well informed on contemporary teaching practice.

About you

As an experienced teacher, you will have sound and practical knowledge of current teaching practice and professional requirements. You will have experience working with colleagues and ideally a passion for child safety and experience working with the education sector.

You will have strong communication skills combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in project management. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have:
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian public sector values, behaving in a principled and respectful manner at all times.
  • Resilience and flexibility.

    Specialist Expertise

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in education, teaching or a related field.
  • Recent teaching experience or work in a regulatory role in the education profession is desirable.
  • A current Australian driver's license is required as the role has a requirement to travel within metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

    About the role

    Salary range: $98,708 – $119,428 plus 9.5% super

    Be part of a forward-thinking, risk based regulator where ideas and opinions are valued. This role will require you to:

    • Develop, manage, deliver, analyse data and report on projects related to supporting the professional practice and conduct of registered teachers.
    • Engage with relevant stakeholders to understand the issues facing the profession, receive feedback and disseminate information about how professional practice and conduct requirements can be met, including for those teachers working in exceptional contexts. This includes but is not limited to, facilitation of programs and presentations to key stakeholders.
    • Create, develop and/or refine resources and provide expert advice to teachers and other stakeholders about the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) and the VIT Codes of Ethics and Conduct.

    This is a fixed term role until 28 January 2022. Ideally, the successful candidate will be available to commence on 6 April 2021 however; the start date is negotiable.
