The Role

The role of the TAFE Teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

The Teacher of Literacy and Numeracy will be delivering pre-vocational training in Literacy and/or Numeracy to students with various backgrounds and ages who have experienced barriers to engage in learning. This training will prepare such learners for further study or entry into vocational pathways.

Selection Criteria

  1. Bachelor of Adult Education with majors in Language and Literacy and/or Numeracy 
    OR 
  2. A recognised, relevant Degree in Education with a Major focus on Language and Literacy and/or Numeracy 
    OR 
    A Bachelor degree and a Post Graduate qualifications in Language and Literacy and/or Numeracy e.g. TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111).
  3. Demonstrated Evidence (post degree) of 200 hours (or more) experience in teaching adults.
  4. Hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110 with the two additional units) or equivalent.
  5. Provide an example of your high level written and oral communication skills in English and proven ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of educational, industrial or community environments.
  6. Explain your commitment and ability to facilitate learning in an adult environment and demonstrated organisational skills applicable to an educational setting that includes online/digital communications/delivery.
  7. Provide an example of your demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and demonstrated ability to contribute in a team.
