Lynwood Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an outstanding leader who has a demonstrated track record for bringing teams together to deliver outstanding classroom practice and outcomes for students across the Technology and Enterprise curriculum contexts.

To be successful in this position, applicants will need to demonstrate a contemporary vision and broad understanding of the West Australian technologies curriculum, model excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability and experience to foster the very best teaching practice from a diverse and experienced team.

As part of the School Leadership Team, the successful applicant will be responsible for creating programs and opportunities that challenge and extend students, ensure teaching and learning practices across the team are engaging, reflect modern curriculum and promote academic excellence.

A pivotal role of the HoLA will focus on cross collaboration with other school leaders in the areas of STEM and Vocational Education and Training.

Applicants with experience in planning and delivering programs for Gifted and Talented Students, Students with Special Needs and high performing, academically driven students and experience in teaching students from a non-English speaking backgrounds will also be highly regarded.

Completion of professional learning programs in Explicit Instruction will ensure the successful applicant can actively support the school commitment to Explicit Instruction (EI) and the development of a whole school instructional framework, a central focus to the position, as we continue to roll-out Explicit Instruction across the school.

Lynwood SHS became an Independent Public School in 2012 and won the WA Education Awards Secondary School of the Year in 2018 after being a finalist in 2015. After three years participating in the Fogarty EdVance Program, we are continuing our association as an Alumni school. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia:
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

Employees will be required to:
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
