  • Take your career in exciting, rewarding directions
Everyone needs a platform to launch a satisfying career. At Monash, we give you the space and support to take your career in all kinds of exciting new directions. You'll have access to quality research, infrastructure and learning facilities, opportunities to collaborate internationally, as well as the grants you'll need to publish your work. We're a university full of energetic and enthusiastic minds, driven to challenge what's expected, expand what we know, and learn from other inspiring, empowering thinkers.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to join the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases within Central Clinical School. The incumbent will join the cancer epigenetics Laboratory investigating aberrant epigenetic pathways in haematological malignancies. The project involves investigation of the precise chromatin events that sustain the growth of blood cancers and the determinants of therapy response and resistance for compounds in clinical development.

The laboratory is focused on discovering novel epigenetic regulators as potential therapeutic targets for aggressive blood cancers. The projects would also involve more fundamental investigation of gene regulatory mechanisms in both normal and malignant contexts. The lab utilises a wide variety of cutting edge genomic/chromatin assays as well as CRISPR screens, functional assays and in vivo mouse models.

To be appointable in this role you must hold a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline (molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry) or a closely related field. In addition to this, the position requires a research scientist skilled in molecular biology/genetics and biochemistry to utilise various cutting-edge genomic techniques. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of NextGen sequencing technologies and a strong background in chromatin biology and/or cancer research. The person will be expected to conduct rigorous, valid and ethical research both independently and as part of the research team. The person will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, and technical staff.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
