4 Casual OSHC Educators for the Karalee State School P&C OSHC.

About you: We are looking to appoint 4 suitably experienced and qualified Casual OSHC Educators who can provide exceptional and quality care and education to school aged children. 

The position will be casual hours 10 - 30 hours per week, rostered between 6am to 9am and 2.45pm to 6pm across the week including Vacation Care between 6am and 6pm.

 The successful candidate will be an individual dedicated to making an impact in the lives of children in their care. It is essential that the successful candidate engages effectively with primary school age children and is professional and enthusiastic with a team-centric approach.

The role includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and preparation of the service’s program drawing upon the service’s philosophy, the approved learning framework (My Place, Our Time Framework), professional knowledge and contemporary play-based practices.
  • Facilitate and/or support activities/events, respond to and adapt activities to reflect flexibility and spontaneity in play, and provide care to children through active supervision and respectful interactions with and between children.
  • Support children’s learning, social and emotional development through positive guidance techniques and strategies.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the program through critical reflection, quality documentation and record keeping as per service policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cultural awareness and competency.
  • Ensure food preparing, serving and storage are consistent with the service’s guidelines, regulatory requirements, and policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and adherence to the service/organisation philosophy, policy and procedures.
  • Engage with ongoing training and development.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork through respectful and supportive interactions with staff and managers.
  • Participation and contribution to team meetings, self-assessment, and quality improvement planning (QIP development and implementation).
  • Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of the children, families, peers and yourself through identifying and responding to hazards and contributing to risk management, including undertaking daily checklists.
  • Contribute to the workplace health safety mechanisms through training, reflection, collaboration and ongoing documentation.
  • Contribute to the learning environment’s safety and quality through undertaking daily cleaning and tidying tasks.
  • Immediately report all near-misses, incidents and/or accidents to the Coordinator for management and reporting.

About Us (the Approved Provider)

The Karalee State School P&C Association (the P&C) is a not-for-profit organisation which plays an important role in providing a forum which fosters productive partnerships between parents and carers and the school to help provide the best possible educational, cultural and social experiences for our students. It is run by suitably qualified and passionate volunteer parents and community members of our school.

The P&C manage four key operations across the school; Karalee Outside School Hours Care (KOSHC – licenced for 150 children daily), Tuckshop, Uniform Shop and Swim School. Our goal is to provide affordable services to the school community and all profits are invested back into the operations to enhance the services as well as significant contributions to resources, facilities and programs across the school. 

Karalee OSHC aims to provide exceptional experiences for children before and after school, and during the school holidays. We are passionate about bringing life to experiences that are fun, safe, and as enjoyable as possible.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current Positive Notice WWCC (Blue Card)
  • Cert III in Children’s Services or Equivalent as approved by ACEQCA

Desirable requirements for this position are:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or Equivalent as approved by ACEQCA
  • Current First Aid
  • Current Anaphylaxis
