Kilcoy State school is seeking the services of an appropriately qualified teacher to undertake the STLaN role from term2 (19/4/21) through to the end of the year, 10/12/21. At Kilcoy State School the STLaN role will be responsible for Improving Literacy and Numeracy outcomes for students through increased student engagement and wellbeing and to support the maximisation of intervention processes. The STLaN will also be a member of the school leadership team.

, established in 1892, is located in the northern section of the Somerset region in Queensland. It is located close to the centre of town in the heart of a rapidly changing rural area, with several established and budding industries. Kilcoy State School is a band 8 school with an enrolment of approximately 300 students from prep to year 6. At Kilcoy State School, there are currently 12 classrooms and a wide range of support personnel. We operate as a team to provide the best possible 21st century education and learning environment for our students.   • Embed the Data Collection schedule into curriculum planning and routine teacher practice
  • Support teachers through a PLC format to use data effectively
  • Create literacy and numeracy data-based interventions for TAs to provide to students
  • Provide training for TAs to supply intervention with precision

  • Promote and embed trauma informed practices using the Berry Street Education Model program
  • Promote and embed the teaching of emotional regulation/growth mindset/resilience
  • Promote consistency in school processes for Behaviour Management
  • Connect with community to develop a shared understanding of our school's way of working

Teachers set individual literacy and numeracy goals and track students' progress by giving feedback to support student outcomes. We use the Curriculum into the Classroom unit plans for English, maths, science and history as a resource to teaching the Australian Curriculum. We use these materials because they support higher order thinking and the acquisition of what a student is expected to know and be able to do at their given year level across the nation.
