Information Technology Services

The Division of Information Technology Services (ITS) at The University of Queensland provides an information environment that supports the teaching, learning, research and engagement objectives of the University and contributes positively to the student experience and the University’s reputation. It delivers network, systems and IT infrastructure support to the University, and enhances UQ’s capabilities through the deployment of new infrastructure, systems and application development.


The largest central division within UQ and one of the largest employers of IT professionals in Queensland, UQ’s ITS Division has both breadth and depth across all aspects of technology. ITS supports the University with many exciting technologies; artificial intelligence, robotics, IoT, cloud, high performance computing, data analytics, virtual networks, high speed networks and big data are just some of the technologies that are being deployed to support UQ’s dynamic environment and varied stakeholders.


Also located within ITS is the internationally recognised network security group, AusCERT, which provides Internet security services throughout Australia and New Zealand. ITS manages core networks not only for the whole of The University of Queensland but also works with other Queensland universities by managing access to the national university network (AARNet). ITS also operates research computing infrastructure and hosts many of the University’s largest servers.

 About This Opportunity


The Business Process Digitisation and Automation (BPDA) program, to which this position belongs, is well underway and represents a significant strategic capability in the reduction of administrative overhead associated with paper-based and manual process workflows as well as repetitive, mundane tasks. To date, the program has delivered digitised processes and automations for the Graduate School, Student Administration, Legal, ITS, Finance, Human Resources, UQ International and Health, Safety and Wellness.


The primary function of the position is to undertake testing activities for various initiatives at UQ. The position will frequently be a major link between ITS and the client and good communication is essential in order to ensure customer satisfaction and provide suitable explanations of technical matters to clients.


This position is located at our Toowong office location on High Street, just minutes from the CBD and walking distance from public transport.


Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of all of the following areas;
  • Incorporating best-practice test frameworks and approaches
  • Creating well-designed and reusable test cases
  • Systems testing
  • Integration testing
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Defect management
  • Creating test plans and test summary reports
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position at HEW level 6.


The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $80,784.26 - $86,768.42, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $94,517.58 - $101,519.05.
