Institute for Molecular Bioscience

About This Opportunity

As the Alumni & Community Engagement Officer, you will be charged with delivering the Institute’s alumni (past staff and students) and broad community philanthropy engagement priorities, including activation campaigns and alumni volunteerism program development at UQ’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience, Australia’s leading life science research institute. Your role will be integral to planning, designing and delivering alumni initiatives and communications and coordinating campaign strategies. You will also act as the primary point of contact for the Institute’s alumni program and build linkage to relevant stakeholders.

This position involves some intrastate travel as necessary to build and develop stakeholder relationships, plus undertaking afterhours and/or weekend work as needed.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre.

Our Ideal Candidate

With prior demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of engagement programs and a capacity to deliver quantifiable results, you should ideally possess a degree with subsequent relevant experience in marketing, public relations or other relevant disciplines. Essential to the role will be your outstanding verbal communication and presentation capabilities, in addition to your strong interpersonal skills and a tenacious ability to handle situations that require initiative, strong time management and independent judgement. 

Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary approaches in strategic marketing and communication, including theory, methods and technology would be a distinct advantage.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time (0.5FTE), fixed term position up to 9 months at Professional Level 06.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $80,784.26 - $86,768.42, plus super of up to 17%.
