An exciting opportunity exists to join the energetic team at Queensland Pathways State College (QPSC) - Inner City campus. As Head of Department - Curriculum, you will have the responsibility for leading the school improvement agenda for literacy, numeracy and wellbeing. About Queensland Pathways State College

QPSC believes that every student has the right to an education and that every student can succeed. Sometimes however, young people face barriers thatprevent them from engaging in schooling such as childhood trauma, a mental health diagnosis or homelessness.

This college is dedicated to supporting those young people who find it difficult to engage in a mainstream school because of these barriers. QPSC has been built on the foundations of BELIEF, RESPECT, UNITY and STUDENT SUCCESS which are our college values.

QPSC is a specific purpose state senior secondary school, with high expectations for our students. Our 12 month senior program is targeted to students in years 10 to 12 (minimum age of 15 years).

The curriculum at QPSC is delivered through a positive teaching approach, which reflects a philosophy that is respectful, trusting and calm.

Your role

As Head of Department - Curriculum you will have the responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Leading a team of staff at the campus to support the engagement of students from diverse backgrounds by:
  • developing a positive culture built on strong relationships with students, parents and community organisations
  • creating opportunities and pathways to diversify individual learning plans for students
  • Contributing to, participating in and assisting with
  • curriculum leadership and management of a whole school approach to curriculum development, implementation, assessment and reporting
  • the maintenance and monitoring of school based programs
  • the facilitation of planning days and activities
  • Liaising with other key personnel to assist teachers in ensuring the learning needs of all students are addressed
  • Administration, teachers and student support officers on curriculum and wellbeing issues
