About Caboolture Special School
Our school was first opened in 1980 with an enrolment of 50 students. It originated from the Special Education Unit formerly at Caboolture State School. Built to cater for students with special needs from both the primary and secondary sector the focus was on smaller class sizes and practical "Learn by doing" techniques. The school supported students from a radius of 25 kilometres.
In keeping with educational research, the focus of the school curriculum has changed over the years to ensure currency and to best support the needs of students with a diverse and complex range of abilities. Students are grouped in classes of 2 to 8 students depending on need each with a full time teacher and teacher aide. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists support students with therapy where appropriate and a chaplain is available to work with the whole school community.
