The Academic Services Division

The Academic Services Division’s mission is to provide expert information, direction and professional service to support the University’s student and academic activities.

The Scholarships Office will provide a central point of responsibility, coordination and expertise, improving the management and quality assurance of scholarships and prizes in accordance with legislative and policy requirements. The role will be required to build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About This Opportunity

The position will be in the Academic Services Division and be responsible for the implementation and progress of the University’s scholarship strategy and governance framework, ensuring it is aligned to UQ’s strategic direction, priorities and goals.

The position will provide expertise, advice and support to the senior executive and the Scholarships Strategic Governance Committee, on the strategic development, operationalisation, review and management of University scholarships. This will include identification, development and implementation of initiatives to maximise and monitor the impact of University investment in scholarships and improve coherence, efficiency, agility and scalability of the scholarships function.

The role requires a high level understanding of the tertiary education sector and scholarships with an ability to coordinate projects in a complex operating environment. An ability to manage multiple stakeholders whilst working closely with senior professional and academic staff is also essential.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Bound by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment - you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this position, you will hold postgraduate qualifications in management or a relevant degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

You will have experience in a tertiary education institution or relevant large organisation, including at least five years in a position with a significant focus on management of the scholarships function as well as demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic planning, policy formulation and implementation of strategies.

You will have demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills, an adaptive nature and excellent interpersonal skills with experience in dealing with a wide cross section of people, from students to senior university and government personnel.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for three years at HEW level 9.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $117,548 - $124,391 per annum, plus super of 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $137,532 - $145,537.
