About the role

The NSW Ageing and Disability Abuse Helpline Consultant is the first point of contact for enquiries and reports to the ADC. The Consultant provides timely and quality intake, assessment and response to enquiries and reports about abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older adults and mentors and trains Helpline Consultants undertaking this role.

The role is situated in the ADC’s Ageing and Disability Abuse Helpline, comprising a team of Consultants a Senior Consultant and a Manager. The Senior Consultant receive enquiries and reports, and provides a timely, educated and person-centred response, including by providing information, advice, referrals to appropriate services, and support.

The role identifies risks and makes timely decisions, including obtaining an emergency response, to protect the safety and wellbeing of the involved adult, and works collaboratively with involved parties and key stakeholders.

This is an ongoing role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. The successful applicant will commence in the role on 1st April 2021 - subject to satisfactory Pre-Employment checks.

A Recruitment Pool may be created to fill similar roles for both ongoing and temporary opportunities if and as they arise.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in a relevant area.
  • A valid driver's licence and a willingness to travel

Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the new Government Sector Employment Act 2013; therefore, you may be contacted to participate. You may also be asked to complete a Health Declaration Form in later stages of the assessment process.
