The Faculty of Health is recruiting a Research Associate/Research Fellow (Identified) to work on an Indigenous-led National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funded Centre of Research Excellence in Strengthening Systems for Indigenous Health Care Equity (CRE-STRIDE).

About the role:

This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

The vision for CRE-STRIDE is equitable health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through quality improvement (QI) and collaborative implementation research to strengthen primary health care (PHC) systems. Specific strategies towards achieving this vision include: i) Indigenous research leadership; ii) strengthening QI processes within health systems and enhancing community linkages; and iii) extending QI processes and collaborations across sectors to promote health and strengthen social and cultural determinants of wellbeing. CRE-STRIDE has exceptional Indigenous leadership and collaborative strengths, and builds on an established partnership of researchers, policy makers and service providers.
The Indigenous Research Associate/Fellow will work with the CRE-STRIDE (Quality Improvement in Health Promotion) research team and key collaborators to progress our vision and research program to extend QI processes and collaborations across sectors to promote health and prevent chronic disease. The role will support the development of new grant ideas; publication of research and conference presentations and contribute to teaching (maximum 25% load) as required.

About you:

We are seeking someone with experience in designing, implementing and evaluating Indigenous health promotion in partnership with Aboriginal health services and communities, along with research and project management experience or a desire to strengthen skills in these areas.

Base Salary Range: $80,539 to $98,091 pa (Level A) $107,132 pa (Level B.2)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for two years.
