Role Description/Criteria

St. Leonard’s is seeking a Chaplain/Pastoral Care Worker for a contract position commencing in Term 1, 2021, to support primary school students. Please note that this position is part time.

The successful applicant will be required to work under the supervision of the Wellbeing Leader and Principal to support the school in the pastoral care and spiritual wellbeing of students and staff. Pastoral care is the practice of promoting and enhancing student wellbeing of a personal, social, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual nature.

A chaplain/pastoral care worker engaged via the National Schools Chaplaincy Program (NSCP) may:

• work as a member of the school’s wellbeing team in the delivery of student wellbeing services

• contribute to improving student engagement and connectedness

• contribute to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

• provide pastoral care and guidance to students

• operate within the school community and with external providers.

St Leonard’s has an active wellbeing team, headed by our Wellbeing Leader and Learning Diversity Leader. Qualifications and Experience

Recently Certificate 4 qualified graduates are welcome to apply.

Requirements- one of the following:

Certificate IV in Youth Work

Certificate IV in Pastoral Care

Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care

an equivalent qualification (as determined by the state) that must include competencies in mental health and responding to client needs (incorporating making appropriate referrals).

In addition:

Current Police and Working With Children Check.

Names and contact details (including mobile phone number) of at least 3 referees.


As per conditions for Education Support Staff covered by the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2018. Salary classification based on qualifications and level of experience.


Temporary contract position commencing immediately and finishing on Thursday 27th January 2022. Days and times are negotiable.
