The opportunity

The National Student Life Manager is responsible for the strategic management and implementation of student life programs and activities online and across all campuses at the College.

A core objective of this position is to develop and coordinate programs, events and activities that encourage a sense of belonging to the College's inclusive and diverse community. This includes engagement and collaboration with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to lead the development of orientation and transition programs, student mentoring and wellbeing programs and high-quality student support initiatives that support student engagement and elevate a student's experience throughout their journey at the College from orientation through to graduation.

Key responsibilities and activities will include:

  • Strategically planning and leading the delivery and implementation of student clubs and a student mentoring framework that supports both domestic and international students.
  • Developing, managing and continuously improving student orientation and wellbeing activities and facilitate the involvement of student leadership teams to support student-to-student connections at the College.
  • Benchmarking and implementing a student representative framework nationally to build a collaborative approach to students' feedback and facilitate student collaboration with the College on core change initiatives.
  • Ensuring student life activities and services are aligned with and meet on-campus and online student engagement objectives to support an active and engaged student community.
  • Managing the implementation and development of an inclusive and robust framework for student engagement, representation and mentoring that adapts and meets industry best practice.
  • Developing programs and opportunities which enhance personal development for all students, with a focus on building leadership skills and encourages student-to-student and student-to-College connections.
  • Benchmarking best practice against the annual Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) survey and implement continuous improvement strategies to ensure the College meets or exceeds student completion statistics and sees clear improvements in key performance metrics associated with QILT parameters.

This is a permanent, full time opportunity and can be based at our Brisbane or Sydney campuses.

About you

You're customer focused, with a passion to assist and support students. You will bring experience to the role across developing and coordinating student transition and engagement programs in the Higher Education sector. An experienced people manager, you have the ability to lead, coach, mentor and motivate your team. You have a proven track record of delivering against key strategic business objectives. Using your exceptional communication, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills, you engage easily with a diverse range of stakeholders from senior management to students.

Qualifications, experience and skills that will support your success in this role include:

  • Bachelor degree in a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students in an educational context.
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic leadership and planning experience, ideally within the education sector.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience in writing and editing student support documentation and monthly engagement reports.
  • Ability to deliver orientation webinars, live-streamed presentations and student messaging to support onboarding modules.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and usage of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated capacity to use marketing platforms to support internal student communications.
  • Ability to connect with others using a highly collaborative and inclusive approach.
