JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified, experienced Academic leader to join the Academic Leadership Team at SAE Creative Media Institute, in the role of Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching, SAE Australia.

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean is responsible for academic leadership, ensuring educational best practice, academic quality and program currency of the Institute and the implementation of academic policies in accordance with the Institute's strategic directions.

The role's key functional responsibilities are Leadership of Learning and Teaching, Development and Maintenance of the Learning Ecosystem, and Academic Quality Assurance and Improvement through the following functions:



  • Provision of leadership and support to the campus academic leadership teams
  • Development of policy and regulatory submissions for a diverse group of SAE campuses, each acting in accordance with different regulatory frameworks.
  • Responsibility for the Academic Quality Assurance and Improvement under SAE policy, ensuring that all quality milestones are met on time and to specification
  • Support for the effective operations of SAE Australia's Academic Board, advising on policy design and implementation, which meets the regulatory and qualification frameworks of a range of different jurisdictions.
  • Compliance with regulatory frameworks and legislation including but not limited to the Higher Education Support Act 2003, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011, the National Vocational Education and Training regulator Act 2011 and the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000, Higher Education Standards Framework (2015) and associated national codes.







The person we seek will ideally have the following:



  • PhD or equivalent in an SAE cognate discipline or education
  • 10 or more years experience in senior academic leadership role
  • Expert knowledge of Australian tertiary regulatory and standards frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience in Australian regulatory matters relating to education and training
  • High-level communication skills
  • Collaboration skills, particularly for remote collaboration
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure
  • Professional experience in a creative media discipline
  • Understanding of WH&S, Anti-Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Access and Equity, EEO principles and practices and other relevant legislation.
