Detailed Description
The Centre for Audio, Acoustics & Vibration is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to play a key role in the academic activities associated with audio acoustics and signal processing, specifically, multi-zone sound field reproduction in realistic listening environments. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Tech Lab at Botany and will report directly to Lecturer, Dr Sipei Zhao. The newly established Centre for Audio, Acoustics & Vibration has a growing team of academic staff that specialises in a range of disciplines in audio, acoustics and vibration. A world-class acoustics laboratory in a dedicated research facility has been built, which has full and hemi-anechoic chambers, a reverberation room, a sound transmission loss suite, a listening room and a hearing test room.
About the role
The role will require you to focus on acoustic modelling and advanced signal processing to investigate the multi-zone sound field reproduction in realistic listening environments based on both numerical simulations and experimental realisation. Research activities are also related to:

  • project management,
  • project execution,
  • results report and demonstration,
  • project proposal preparation,
  • papers writing,
  • and other related experimental design.

About you

  • Demonstrated knowledge in acoustics, audio signal processing and electronics engineering
  • Demonstrated numerical simulation skills with COMSOL etc and programming skills with MATLAB/C/C++
  • Demonstrated experimental electronics and working with loudspeaker and microphone arrays
  • PhD in Acoustics/Electronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in experimental audio acoustics, experimental validation, in loudspeaker and microphone arrays and in audio signal processing
  • Demonstrated publication record of top 20% discipline specific journals of international repute, including successful travel grant applications, awarded fellowships, internal / external grant applications and successfully attracted industry funding.

Base Salary Range: $91 ,382 to $98,091 pa (Level A. Step 3-4)This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
