School Education Programs and Support Group (SEPS)

The Project Officer will play a critical role in developing and delivering programs for high-ability students. They will work in a team delivering and overseeing key initiatives within the Student Excellence Program, and will take part in project management, planning and reporting, writing operational policy and contract management. The Project Officer will be working directly with stakeholders including schools, and internal and external stakeholders. 

This is a fixed term position to the 31 December 2022.

SEPS performs four key roles as policy lead, system architect, commissioner and performance assurer. It ensures a seamless and streamlined service system that is accountable, coherent, and responsive to the needs of all Victorian children and young people, and their families.

In close collaboration and partnership with other Groups in the Department, Statutory Authorities, and with service delivery partners, parents and families, SEPS works as a catalyst to drive improved professional practice and monitor and assure the quality of services. This is achieved by ensuring that services are responsive and effective where children and young people fall behind or need acceleration, and by strengthening standards for curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting across government and non-government sector.

Learning, Teaching and Pathways Division

Learning, Teaching and Pathways Division has a central role in achieving the Education State Agenda by ensuring that all students are engaged and active learners, leading to excellence and growth in the full range of student outcomes and broader pathways. The ultimate goal is to have future-ready students equipped for life-long learning, work, personal and social development and active and informed citizenship.

We achieve this by providing operational policy development and advice, the management of targeted school funding lines, design and management of programs, and delivering priority projects that provide resources, professional learning and guidance to schools. 

Student Excellence Unit

The Student Excellence Unit leads policy and programs for high-ability students in Victorian governement schools. The Unit is responsible for the roll-out of the $60.2 million Student Excellence Program, including statewide extension and enrichment programs, teacher professional learning and funding to schools. The Unit also leads policy in relation to Victoria's selective entry high schools.
