Casual Intensive Learning Support Teacher/Educator 2021– Banora Point High School

Expressions of interest are invited from university academics, post-graduate university students and permanent, temporary, casual, pre-service, retired and on-leave teachers, interested in supporting the COVID Intensive Learning Support Program as a casual Intensive Learning Support Teacher/Educator from Monday 8 March 2021 to Monday 8 November 2021.

Banora Point High School is a comprehensive high school with approximately 600 students. 12% of the students are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. The school was established in 2004 and is currently in an exciting stage of its development. It is located in a growth area of the Far North Coast offering the services and facilities of a major metropolitan area. The school is strongly committed to collaboration with the Aurora Learning Community and the Tweed Valley Secondary Schools (Tweed 5). The school community aspires to attain its vision of fostering an inclusive learning community and inspiring students to achieve their personal best by becoming lifelong learners, critical thinkers and healthy creative members of a global society.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 2 pages in length should be submitted to Lachlan Klose, Deputy Principal at lachlan.klose@det.nsw.edu.au by 5 pm on Friday 26 February 2021.

Statement of duties

  • Preparation and facilitation of small group literacy and numeracy tuition.
  • Regular communication with parents, staff and school community on student progress.
  • Ongoing data monitoring, collection and analysis.
  • Engagement in professional learning. Including, but not limited to PLAN2 and literacy and numeracy progression professional learning.

Selection criteria

  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic member of a team to deliver small group, intensive literacy and numeracy tuition.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with parents, staff and the school community.
  • Demonstrated capacity to support ongoing monitoring, data collection and analysis of small group intensive literacy and numeracy tuition.

Include two referees in your application. Expressions of interest must not exceed 2 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.

All applicants must have, or be willing to undertake, a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance through the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian. A valid NSW WWCC is a requirement for employment in child-related roles in NSW schools.
