Baldivis Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and innovative Program Coordinator – Curriculum Support to lead our dedicated Learning Support team. They will be a passionate leader committed to extending the inclusive practices of the College and strengthening learning outcomes for students. Ideally, the successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative team-oriented leader who has outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships. They will add valuable expertise to the College’s Senior Leadership Team.

Alongside the Autism Specialised Learning Program (ASLP) Manager and the Students Services Managers, the Program Coordinator – Curriculum Support will be an integral part of the College’s Students at Risk Support Team, providing multi-disciplinary support those students who require additional assistance to develop high levels of independence and autonomy and are equipped with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to participate in the global community as productive citizen.

The Program Coordinator – Curriculum Support will work collaboratively with the Autism Specialised Learning Program (ASLP) Manager to coordinate the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability process at the College; facilitate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Reporting and provide educational leadership to equip other team leaders and classroom teachers with the knowledge and understanding necessary to effectively cater for those students who require additional educational provisions to access the school curriculum. This includes students who have a recognised or imputed learning difficulty or disability.

An important element of the role will include overseeing the case management of those students who attract Individual Disability Allocation (IDA) funding, including completing funding applications, leading the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and mechanisms for parent feedback, reviewing progress and managing the deployment of Education Assistants across the College.

As such, our entire instructional staff utilise AVID strategies, other best instructional practices, and 21st century tools to ensure post-school readiness and improved academic performance for all students. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:

Employees will be required to:
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
