This is a permanent part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2021

Merredin College is seeking a motivated and proactive person to take on the role of the Primary Extension Academic Challenge (PEAC) Teacher.

PEAC Teachers are responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of supplementary extension and challenge programs for identified Gifted and Talented students in Years 4 to 6 in Primary Schools in the Western Australian public system. The PEAC Teacher is responsible for the management and delivery of outcomes-focussed, differentiated curriculum for students identified as gifted and talented, across the region. This includes students who are able to access face-to-face programs and those who access the program remotely, via Connect and WebEx.

Merredin College is located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt and has rigorous yet supportive teaching programs encouraging students to become independent learners. Merredin College has approximately 550 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and meeting the learning needs of all students is important and programs to support literacy and numeracy are in place. Engagement programs for our Aboriginal students and our Education Support students are in place and their needs are met through tailored support. ICT is embedded to ensure students learn in a contemporary environment and leave school with the skills needed to function in the 21st Century.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
