JOB DESCRIPTION
- Based in UniSA STEM at the Mawson Lakes campus
- Full-time, 2 year fixed term contract
- Salary range: $88,851 - $95,253 per annum (plus superannuation)
The Research Associate will contribute to the research on the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project titled ‘Root-to-shoot: modelling the salt stress response of a plant vascular system’. The project aims to understand salt and water transport in plants and the physiological effects of soil salinity.
It is desirable for the Research Associate to have experience in the modelling of plants and plant processes, particularly transport processes internal to plants.

Core Responsibilities
- Undertake research to achieve project grant outcomes
- Design and perform theoretical modelling and simulation experiments
- Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers
- Contribute to the teaching activities of the Unit
- A PhD in applied mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical biology or a related discipline
- Evidence of high quality research output, which is published and presented in appropriate forums
- Experience in computational modelling and simulation
- Knowledge and experience with programming in Fortran, MATLAB
- Ability to plan and execute testing and research with stakeholders
