Senior Coordinator, Space Planning

HEP 9 $114,102 per annum + 9.5% employer superannuation contributuion. This is a full-time (36.75 hours per week) 9 month fixed term role until 1 December 2021.

About the Role

The Senior Coordinator, Space Planning will provide strategic facilities planning and space management services to the University. Specifically, this position will ensure that University’s operational and strategic requirements are met and space management standards meet or exceed best practise in the tertiary education sector as well as developing supporting policy, strategies and procedures.

This is a specialist role that requires understanding of space planning principles, working with TEFMA for reporting university obligations and maintain up to date space data. You will work with specialist functions such as CAD and Archibus data and be responsible for space utilisation studies, space allocation and stakeholder engagement and space brief delivery.

About the Person
You are a dynamic and well organised coordinator with extensive knowledge and experience in Space Planning in a tertiary institution or for a large corporate with a track record of success in working collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of space utilisation are considered in planning for successful outcomes.

  • Presenting proposals in a format and language that can be easily understood will be a skill at which you are particularly talented;
  • Are renowned for your attention to detail, your high-level communication, negotiation and influencing skills and your confidence in dealing with staff at all levels throughout the organisation.
  • Are proficient with new technologies including data, systems and reporting;
  • Can work proactively, autonomously and collaboratively;
  • Love working with a wide range of stakeholders, enjoy mentoring, coaching and upskilling others;

Duties

Duties will include:

  • Initiating and undertaking strategic space planning projects at a college/department level
  • Delivering accommodation briefs as required, identifying options which reflect the planning, construction and financial resources of the university.
  • Providing advice to key Facilities staff regarding current and future University space utilisation and accommodation requirements including coordinating space utilisation survey preparing recommendations.
  • Ensuring adherence to University’s Space Management & Allocation Policy when assessing all requests for space while also reviewing existing and developing further policies to ensure industry best-practice and effective use of University space and resources.
