JOB DESCRIPTION

TAFE Queensland East Coast is currently seeking applications for a temporary teacher/tutor in Bundaberg until 25/06/21, with possibility of extension.

Are you a passionate about Beauty? Do you hold a TAE qualification and relevant vocational qualifications?

As a TAFE Queensland East Coast Teacher you will –

  • Display teaching competence and a commitment to a student centred approach.
  • Lead and manage effective teaching and learning within classroom, workplace, simulated and online learning environments with a focus on student engagement, progression and success.Utilise flexible, blended and inclusive learning techniques, options and products which are responsive to various student cohorts, including commencing students and those with priority needs.
  • Develop and implement assessment processes and tools that meet industry skills standards (i.e. endorsed components from National Training Packages), and participate in validation and moderation activities relating to assessment processes and practices.
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, client groups and staff by participating in team meetings, industry reference groups, student events and forums, inviting feedback and engaging in reflection.
  • Ensure that students adopt and practise accepted safety procedures and sustainablility in the learning and assessment environment.
  • Contribute to planning, design, development, implementation and review of educational programs.
  • Participate in relevant professional learning activities to develop and maintain currency of personal and professional skills, knowledge and attitudes for both industry and learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Undertake general administration duties including monitoring of student attendance and progression, facilitating access to educational support and providing effective feedback and advice.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on Our Customer, Showing Initiative and Taking Responsibility.
  • Conduct tutorials to revise and consolidate learning.
  • Contribute to the development of blended and distributed learning techniques and products.
  • Assist teachers in student and client assessment processes

As a TAFE Queensland East Coast Tutor you will –

  • Provide support to students through conducting tutorial activities in a range of learning environments, including classroom, workplace, simulated and online to review and re-inforce previously instructed learning content.
  • Facilitate learner skill development, provide support and guidance under direction and provide feedback.
  • Supervise support and/or contribute to the collection of assessment evidence, and undertake compliance and quality assurance activities as required.
  • Provide support to students in assessment processes and where academic progression intervention is required, as directed.
  • Meet with teachers on a regular basis to discuss individual student needs and issues, learning activites and subject-matter content.
  • Monitor student participation and engagement in tutorial activities and provide regular feedback to teachers.
  • Provide tutorial assistance, guidance and subject-matter advice to students and invite regular feedback from students.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment and ensure students adopt and practise acceptable safety procedures and sustainability at all times.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, development and review of educational programs and learning content as part of an educational team.
  • Provide advice on industry trends and training practices.
  • Co-ordinate, maintain and store required documents and records as per team requirements.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland's quality assurance processes by adhering to the implementation of quality systems, processes and documentation.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Current industry/work experience in the relevant discipline.

Possession of the following training and assessment qualifications: 

  • TAE40116 including TAEASS502 and TAELLN411 OR
  • TAESS0015 Enterprise Trainer and Assessor Skill Set; and
  • TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills.
